Facta non Verba!

Metta Charity Run 2015

Subject: VWO Expo

Bartley Secondary School held our inaugural VWO/NPO Expo on 23 January 2015 for Upper Secondary students to select their Values-in-Action (VIA) partners.

Around 450 students and 16 organisations participated in this successful event, and feedback given by both organisations and students alike are that they enjoyed this novel format.

Bartley Secondary School's Learning for Life Programme (LLP) is in Community Youth Leadership (CYL), and all Upper Sec students are encouraged to pursue VIA projects of their own liking, instead of the school organising it for them. This allows them to take full ownership of the project, put their leadership skills into action, and help them learn the ropes of forming their own community service projects. This helps them to develop into Resilient and Responsible Leaders, and live up to our motto of Facta Non Verba, Deeds Not Words
Some praises for the event:
"Bartley Secondary School is a school which encourages the students to move towards serving the community, to provide back to the society for those less fortunate. This is a good move."

"I think that the VWO expo was an excellent learning experience. The person who organized the VWO expo should be complimented as it’s an idea that is very much appreciated by most of the students as it was very helpful in helping us to partner with the right organization.I think there should be a VWO expo every year (:"

Dear Miss Soh,

Good day. This is email is regarding a student from your school, Miss Rachel Lai Li Ling. She participated in our fundraising event, the Pertapis Flag Day 2013, on the 27 April, Saturday for the AM shift.
